[sblock=ooc]You guys make my day sometimes, I gotta say.[/sblock]

The Warden puts a few extra feet between himself and those of the group who seem to have gathered a following. He pulls the front of his hood down, with the obvious intent of going unnoticed.

The kids hang on the heroes for a few minutes more, despite kind words to get moving but do eventually move along, quite excited to have met heroes from the Screamer. With little to do in town the time passes slowly with casual conversation, and then it's time to board the Seaflower.

The ship is by far not a large one but can hold your party plus a crew of seven, and a fair amount of cargo with moderate comfort. You are, of course, all sharing one room (area of the hold), with the crew in another and only the captain in a cabin.

The Captain himself, is a middle aged human, who holds himself with respect, and seems a bit more diplomatic than the rest. The crew is three humans, two halflings and a half-orc who seem more typical of sailors, a bit crude, strong of arm, but not the quickest of wit.

Before long you off at sea, on your way to the Isle of Opposition.

Dane stands on the top deck looking around at the crew and his companions, oblivous if he's in the way or not. He starts to point his finger at each person on the ships, then to himself and then appears to count the fingers on both of his hands. He does that a couple times before snapping his fingers in an "Aw-shucks" manner.

Dane then starts to belt a warbly tune at the most inappropriate time:

"Fourteen men on the dead man's chest--
...Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!
Drink and the devil had done for the rest--
...Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!"

Hadrak, got any rum?

Incarnation spends the first part of the trip on deck, standing near the middle of the ship. He scans the horizon for some time, watching, implacable. He waits, not moving unless spoken to.

Raiyek goes to stand at the rail of the ship, removing his helmet to feel the sea breeze in his hair. He smiles and gazes at the watery horizon, enjoying the view and the sea air. "Best enjoy the journey while we can. Not all of it will be so simple, I'm sure," the elf says to no one in particular, or possibly to himself.

Raiyek's words proved prophetic indeed. Sailing on the transitive seas was tricky at best, and a good Captain learned to develop a method to navigating with at least a bit on intuition and sense of nature.

Still this was a common voyage, rarely taking more than two days, often less. On the second day though a strange sight occurred as the waves became slightly rough. A herring was thrown from the waves onto the deck, as if it had leapt up willingly, trying to escape the water.

Few gave it a second look as one sailor laughed and went to scoop it up. Right before it was within his hands he stopped for but a few feet away fell another herring. The man stopped laughing and as sailors slowly turned to see the sight they all stopped their tasks and conversations. Then finally, a third herring was thrown on board.

Now the crew began to whisper amongst themselves and threw side long glances at their passengers. One finally raised an imposing finger at Hadrak (well really at all of you, you can tell, but Hadrak was close).

"Bad omen! Netari's wrath! You work against the gods!" The shouts rouse the captain from his quarters.

The Warden steps forward and raises his arms to try and calm the situation but his presence goes unheeded.

Skill Challenge!

This works kind of like combat without Initiative. Everyone rolls one check of their choosing. Once each party member has made a roll, then you may roll again. Once a PC succeeds with a certain skill, any other rolls of that skill, for that PC, do not count toward success. The same goes for failure. Once you fail with that skill, any other failing rolls do not count with that skill.

For example, Dalvach rolls a successful stealth check in round 1. In round 2 he's going to want to try a different skill in order to gain enough successes to win. However, the other party members can still earn a success with Stealth.

Conversely, if Dalvach thought the other party members were more likely to succeed in other skills than he, but liked his stealth modifier he could try rolling stealth again, knowing that he can't succeed but he might not fail either.

[sblock=OOC]Oh, no they di'nt![/sblock]Incarnation, at his place near the center of the ship, had not moved, not needing food or sleep. He confired with Georg a few times when the dwarf stopped by, and had words with any who passed, but otherwise he watched.

When the fish began coming, and he saw the mood turn black, the warforged was quick to ask. Stepping with long strides, he was soon next to Hadrak. The shadows around him made him loom almost impossibly tall, and a sudden flare of fire along his entire plating sent hot smoke all around him.

Seize! Raise no hand, nor voice, nor thought against any that have been brought upon this vessel. The currents of Fate tangle us now, and reading false signs when those that may protect you from doom's net are threatened will only mire you deeper. Turning against us will only bring you woe. Know this! Know this as you know that those that betray will not be forgotten. And my memory is eternal.[sblock=OOC]Intimidate w/ Beguiling Tongue: 21. The sailors seem to freeze in their tracks, while no one is backing down, no one seems to be the one to instigate the next step. Their eyes dart quickly between each other and the smoldering warforged.

[sblock=ooc]1st successful use of intimidate had the secondary effect as counting as two successes. Good way to start.[/sblock]

Hadrak, got any rum?

-''Of course! Rum, rum, where is my rum.''

Hadrak spends several minutes rummaging through his reserve of alcohol to find the lone cask of ruh hidden in all the ale.

-''YES! RUM!''

He turns, holding his cask and triumph only to be confronted by agitated sailors that may be thinking of throwing him overboard.

-''Uh. You want some rum?''

Damn. And I have wanted to retrain history for diplomacy since I was level 4 (It's more in line with the seriously cheerful bent I have been giving to Hadrak) but I had something more urgent to retrain of level 5 and 6. *sigh*

Hadrak's offer of rum in the face of the severity of their believes seems to anger some members and then forget their fear of Incarnation for the moment. One man angrily draws a long knife.

Dane's words however seem a bit convincing. One man eyes the sea with suspicion.
