Stat this up # 2

Looks great to me.

Updating the Foxdragon Working Draft.

Any word on weather the monster homebrew section will come back?

The homebrew threads still exist (except for the last 5 months or so) but got pushed to the wrong forums during the recovery from the Enworld backup.

We're PMing the appropriate parties asking them to move a selection of threads back to the Creature Catalog forums but so far only have a bunch of recent General Monster Talk conversion threads back running.

So basically there's no new news on that side.

I should be restoring some of the "working conversions" over the next few days but it's likely to take longer than getting the finished ones back since I'm only adding/updating them once freyar and I agree that's the best reconstruction of where we were when the Great Database Hiccup happened.

So are you ready to start the True Dragon version? Things are likely to be pretty quiet on the CC conversions for a while.

Hmm.. well I was hoping to inspire some people with these but if things have quieted down I think I'll work on my "put creature catalogue into a cool formatted pdf" project.

Well General Monster's not going to be dead. We'll probably be starting (or restarting) work on at least a couple of conversions this week.

Anyhow that's a different matter to this Foxdragon homebrew. If you still think it'd be fun we might as well continue with it.

Hú lóng version. I think right around the power level of a green dragon. the Hú lóng can be the guardian of magic. when they are younger they may be trixie like their fox dragon cousens. Maybe fox dragons can somehow becomes true dragons when they stop acting childish and get serious in the duties as guardians of magic. Kind of similar to how the yu lung can become a larger dragon if were going the way of the oriental dragons.

I was thinking of using the Copper Dragon as a template, since (a) I'd rather it be one of the smaller dragon that starts at Tiny size and (b) I feel the higher mental stats of a Metallic Dragon seem more appropriate to them.

As for the "guardians of magic" idea I'm not that fond of the idea.

As for the transformation into a true dragon idea, how about if a Foxdragon has the potential to become a true dragon Fox Dragon if it performs an exemplary service or masters some mystic discipline?

Im ok with the exemplary service and or masters some mystic discipline thing as well as the copper dragon. What is going to be a True Dragon Hú lóng's gimmic? all other the other oriental dragons have some sort of guardian gimmick.

Well an obvious role is they're "Sylvan Guardians" who the Celestial Bureaucracy assign to protect/oversee/manage a woodland or forest with a population of magical creatures (spirits, fey, et cetera).

If we do give them a guardianship role it makes sense to match it up with their Environment.

Okedokey so copper dragon level sylvan guradians.

Copper dragon have 5hd at Wyrmling

Str 11 dex 10 con 13 Int 12 wis 13 cha 12

the non true dragon version we just cooked up has

Str 6 dex 17 con 11 Int 10 wis 12 cha 12

Maybe keep the Copper stats but swap the dex and con. Sylvan makes me think fey which makes me feel More dex but frail.

Oriental Dragons in the 3E Oriental Adventures start out as Carp Dragons with the following stats:

Then they become juveniles with stats that depend on the type of Oriental Dragon. I'll include a juvenile Copper Dragon for comparison:

Looking at the above, a juvenile Copper Dragon is closest to a juvenile Pan Lung (aka River Dragon), so maybe we should use some of the Pan Lung's stats instead?

So how about this for the Hu Lung?:
