E2: The Secret of Gemhold [Patlin Judging]

Manzanita

First Post
Percy tries to quickly size up the chaotic battlefield. Ridik and Nars are moving in to take down the last shamen. Rodimus is fighting a giant. The treants will take the others, probably. The goblins are in disarray. The main threat is clear. Grollk. And this demonic-looking creature seems to be heading for her dear friend Fondar. These demons were often resistant to earthly weapons, but she hadn't met much that could resist her purple fire.

Percy steps in near a thorn, and prehaps behind a piece of wall for cover, and lets it rip.

OOC: magic missile damage vs Grollk for round 4: 13
Percy's stats:
AC 16 w/mage armor, 20 w/full defense
Spells remaining after round 4: 6/6/6/1
HPs: 45

[Round 4]

Rodimus moves in to tackle the real threat, the fight is on! Two solid punches smash into the giant's ribs but he looks unstunned from the blows.

Gorefoot had been heading for the shaman but is looking a little more towards the larger threat that has emerged just now. He delays a moment to see what aid his friends can give before heading in.

The thorn along the south wall falls back with most goblins scurrying or dead with the fall of the wall. He joins his companion on the north who is holding things well from reaching Nezrak and Percy. Another goblin dog falls to the pair.

Ridik successfully dispels the mirror goblin adept and manages to cancel out an apparently invisible one nearby as well.

The goblins along the walls see more devastation befall their forces and break. Many scramble to make it to the stairs and just as many are pushed screaming to their deaths outside the walls or inside on their companion's weapons.

Nars moves in to attack the Goblin Shaman to aid Gorefoot. Flanking the adept with Gorefoot, Nars manages to sneak a lucky blow in behind the goblin's neck and drops him in one hit!

Two of the giants free from the wall move in on the treants to grapple them. The one in front of Rodimus aims both heavy fist at him though only one connects (and less solidly than the half-orc's own punch).

Nezrak, running very low on offensive spells digs into his pack and finds a scroll of web. He places it along the inside wall to the north catching the majority of remaining goblins there, including the ones that fell. A good 20 or so are trapped at the moment.

The nomads fire on the fleeing goblins though a few try to hit the giants but miss. Yet more goblins fall from the wall now becoming stuck to the web.

The treants try to escape the grapple, but with numbers on their side the 4 (incl. the animated trees) batter the two giants as best they can. The former wall turns into a giant grappling match between 2 hill giants and 4 trees.

Percy's purple missiles once again prove effective as they slam into the large demonic goblin wolf. It does not look phased in the least (though it did take the damage).

The petals dance atop the web now taunting the caught goblins. The flit down and tickle a few ears and pull a few noses generally being irritating to the already beleagered and trapped goblin masses.

The goblin shaman that remains was previously invisible and skulking near the door to the old chapel nearby. He slinks inside and disappears again.

Grollk roars at the chaos, drinking it in. He looks laughingly towards the upstart army then yells in a booming voice, "I SHALL FEAST UPON YOUR SOULS!" Then he targets himself and whatever goblins are nearby (about 4) and unleashes a wave of vibrant yellow energy. All 5 (including himself) grow in proportions. He becomes as tall as the giants and the 4 goblins are as big as Rodimus now. The four enlarged goblins charge Gorefoot and Nars. With their enhanced size they would've had an easy time avoiding little Gorefoot's reach, but as they charge he steps forward to meet the first. Within reach now he fells two quickly.

[sblock=ooc] Sorry for the delay again, hope everyone is having fun with this insanely chaotic battle.

Damage Recap:
Ridik = 16 dmg
Nars = 25 dmg
Rodimus = 21 dmg
Gorefoot = 37 dmg[/sblock]

[Round 5]

Rodimus unleashes a flurry of blows on his giant opponent. Two of his punches fly wide but that might all have been a ploy when a kick to the kneecap of the giant nearly cripples it.

The thorns dispatch a few of the goblins that are being held by Nezrak's web.

Ridik moves up and heals Gorefoot. The goblins nearby are certainly larger than the little guy, but not so big as to be a threat from this distance.

The goblins along the walls struggle to free themselves and a few make it but they retreat north to the cliff wall rather than engaging the party's flank.

Nars manages to remove the other two larger goblins, apparently enlarged size did nothing to actually make them tougher.

The giants and treefolk continue to hammer it out against one another. Another of the trees cracks under the full court press, but both giants are looking worse for wear.

The one fighting Rodimus tries futily to fit back, but only one fist manages to connect.

Nezrak fires an arrow with his bow at Grollk before Gorefoot engages him, but misses.

The nomads seeing most of their opponents dead, dying, or fleeing decend from their perches and prepare to join the skirmish.

Percy sends another set of purple missiles into the fray.

The petals continue to poke fun at the goblins caught in the webs.

The remaining goblin shaman has disappeared.

Gorefoot holds back again near his friends, letting Grollk come to him. As the big demon gets close, Gorefoot moves in to hammer him with his greatsword. The two combattants lock in mortal combat as Gorefoot unleashes his rage but in a mixture of haste and hesitancy almost drops his greatsword.

Grollk laughs in disgust and reaches down to the puny halfling beneath him and tries to eat him alive. His massive jaws dig into Gorefoot's side painfully.

[sblock=ooc]How is everyone holding up with this plodding super combat? The mega goblins are actually only size Medium now that I check on it, so Ridik has no problem getting in under their reach to heal Gorefoot.

Xael or Icycool still around?

Damage Recap:
Ridik = 16 dmg
Nars = 25 dmg
Rodimus = 30 dmg
Gorefoot = 42 dmg[/sblock]

Combat fine. It doesn't really seem that slow if you update it once/week.

The way to Grollk is now clear. I hope Rodimus can hold up against those giants. In spite of being burned, slashed, and pelted, Nars resolves to take the fight to Grolk. Using his enhanced speed, he circles in behind Grollk and makes a cautious stab at the nasty creature.

OOC:
I think the way to Grollk is clear. Circle into flanking Grollk with Gorefoot. Make a single attack fighting defensively with four points of combat expertise.

For this round +6 (+12 normal -8 for expertise and fighting defensive +2 for flanking) with Felhunter - attack (1d20+6=12, 4d6+4=16)
AC: 30, touch AC 24

Combat's going well! Those damage numbers for everybody are making me nervous, but hopefully we can pull through!
