Background: Born in Ignussus, Dane's mother died during child birth and his father died in a street fight when he was still quite young. He lived on the streets for a short time, living off the generosity of the local clergy, but was eventually taken in by a local dwarven blacksmith. Dane doesn't know why Daren Grimnose took pity on him then, especially in such a city, but none the less Dane was able to learn a trade, and eat regularly. He even gained a sense of community amongst the Dwarves, earning the nickname Firebuilder, which he occasionally uses in place of a surname. Apprenticed to the smith he also saw firsthand the evils of the Curved Blades of Arcton, and eventually provided them directly with weapons and armor for years. It was a torturous act but seemed a necessary one. The Blacksmith's worshiped the fire god in an almost superstitious way, and Dane had opportunities to deal with clergy fairly regularly. He learned what he could, when he could, and eventually some of the priests learned of Dane's good heart and distaste for the Blades. The gave him additional training and when he seemed ready sent Dane out, and away from the city to try to develop his skills further in the hopes that some day he might return with the manpower and abilities to overthrow the guild and bring Law back to the people of Ignussus.
