could be found an an evil carnival in the shadowfell?

What about the carnival food? Take classics and make them dark, shadowy, and gruesome. Cotton candy...made from SOULS!

I might suggest pulling some ideas from the Paizo GameMastery modulus E1: Carnival of Tears. I went through that as a player and really enjoyed the atmosphere (our DM used some really weird Tom Waits music too, which added a lot of atmosphere).
