I ran a trap-filled dungeon as part of an unexpected incident in KotS, and for some reason I suspect I'm getting it wrong somehow. Here's how I ran it:
Anything I'm doing wrong?
- An area with a trap or hazard enters visibility range. Compare the Perception DC to detect the trap with the character's Passive Perception; if Passive Perception >= Perception DC, that character spots the trap.
- If a trap or hazard is in visibility range, a character can make an active Perception check and expend 1 minute/10 rounds to search a Close Burst 1 area.
- If you trigger the trap or hazard, you automatically realize that you've done so.
Anything I'm doing wrong?
