I just wanted to say: I was completely wrong. I did not believe WotC would ever back down.

Also I figured even if they did back down it would be "back down to status quo ante." "Put the core rules essentially into the public domain" is so far beyond where I thought they'd go it literally wasn't even on the bingo card.

I feel like I did my part (along with tens of thousands of other gamers) to encourage them to do the right thing. I don't feel embarrassed about that at all.

I honestly didn't think they would either. I just decided the brand wasn't worth sticking with if they didn't. I'm definitely glad they saw reason.

I thought they would back down, but I didn't expect this. Of course, now I'm greedy for more - bring on the 3.0 & 3.5 SRD to CC!

I would add 4e too, but I understand that, like 1e and 2e, would pretty much have to be made from scratch. Though I would love that - I don't see it happening.

I just hope people keep this in mind when someone claims that boycotts don't work. Things are not always hopeless, and we sometimes have more power than we think. I hope this brings you all hope. <3
