As the party ascends the steps they can see the fine wood floors here have buckled in places. The footing is off. To the north you see what might be a shoe/coat room, to the south a skullery or some-such, and in front of you (to the east) a large fine room with stairs going up both sides, albeit cracked crooked and broken.

Ersarkess is too engrossed in binding the kid to notice anything. He does hear the barbarian though.
"Don't worry Raghnal, if he was dead you couldn't have killed him. If he's just slowed, we'll heal him before it comes to axe death blow. It was good thinking on your part. But maybe next time just prod it with ten foot long stick?"
