Today Ravenloft is very popular if we see the number of titles in DMGuild. And World of Darkness TTRPG indirectly helped to promote Ravenloft.

So sales of Realm of Terror actually rebounded after the Revised Box Set had been available for a year? That's a bit odd.

I am sure a lot of people bought it because they purchased the revised and wanted to see what the original boxed set was like

Well, these numbers certainly provide context for 3E prodyct decisions.

yep now its clear why Greyhawk was the default and FR was the most supported and why thry licienced or ignored the rest and just made Eberron instead of supporting the older settings.

of course things have changed now and ironically there maybe a bigger snd better market for all the settings then back then.

The only thing I find surprising is that Spelljammer sold more than Ravenloft. This isn't a slam against Spelljammer, I just thought Ravenloft was more popular.

What's really odd is that they still had so many copies of the original boxed set to be able to sell. Typically you'd think that you'd want to be close to sold out of the first edition of something before you'd switch to selling the second.

I'd agree with you that it's odd, but this is TSR that we're talking about.

We do have some numbers, posted on this board, about 3.0 and 3.5 and pathfinder, from, I think, a talk given by Lisa Stevens at a PAX. Though I think most folks don’t give those the same weight because it wasn’t for a book with a lot I think he line for the speaker/author and might have been said off the cuff.

That was me quoting from memory via an attendee who posted the numbers a long time ago (2013/14).

Seems they were in the ballpark for AD&D. No 4E numbers were provided.
