Questions:

I find the Rules Cyclopedia for BECMI easy to understand, does this new product help me?

For AD&D I have OSRIC for 1E and For Gold and Glory for 2E. How is this product better than those 2?

Thanks!

It has an ascending AC variant, actively produces new material, has really solid layout, is still in print, has optional rules for separate race and class.
But if you're happy with the RC and don't care about new options, it probably doesn't add much. Actually it has less because it doesn't have the -CMI from BECMI.
It's based in BX, so the other retroclones you mentioned aren't really a good comparison.

Indeed. It's a great clone of B/X, but if one wants to play BECMI or AD&D there are other options. I think that the OSE modules are great for any TSR-like D&D version.

If you're perfectly happy with the RC, you probably don't need this. The RC is based on Mentzer's BECM (without the I for Immortals)
OSE is a faithful recreation of Moldvay/Cook/Marsh BX, so not the same as BECMI/RC.
Both are, of course, very similar, with the Thief skills being a big difference (they are "nerfed" in BECMI because they stretch over 36 levels as opposed to 14) but other than that, they are similar enough.

All that said, OSE is a quality product with a very high production value and tons of support.

My first D&D set was B/X and it continues to be a favorite. However I like the advancement stuff of OSE, and looking forward to other genres.

Also this may make it easier for third parties to support.

Also I think a group I’m might switch to it.

Also, really, putting money towards new Erol Otis rpg art is just really cool.

I already have the OG box set and Rules Compendium and the Advanced books all separate, but I'm backing this and probably surplusing my OG set and the standalone Advanced books.
