The current discussion on Bard's in the general forum has led me to finally post this in House Rules.
The 1E Bard was, after all, the first and greatest PrC.
Bard
Hit Die: d6
Requirements
Alignment: Any with some neutral
Skills: Decipher Script 8 ranks, Use Magic Device 8 ranks, Diplomacy 8 ranks, Knowledge (any) 4 ranks.
Feats: Weapon Focus, Weapon Mastery
Must have evasion as a class feature.
Class Skills
Skill list as per PHB Bard.
6 + Int skill points per level
Class Features
Weapon and Armour Proficiency: The Bard gains no new weapon or armour proficiencies.
Spells per Day/Spells Known: The Bard gains and casts spells as a sorcerer, according to the progressions shown below. Spells are selected from the PHB bard list.
Bardic Music: As per PHB, based on class level.
Bardic Knowledge: As per PHB, based on character level.
Bonus Feats: A Bard's bonus feats may be taken from the list of fighter Bonus feats, Metamagic feats, or any of the following feats from S&S: Alluring, Charlatan, Extra Music, Green Ear, Jack of All Trades, Lingering Song, Multicultural, Obscure Lore, Persuasive, Requiem, Subsonics and Trustworthy.
BAB Progression: As cleric.
Good Saves: Ref and Will
Special Abilities
Level 1: Bardic Music, Bardic Knowledge
Level 4: Bonus Feat
Level 8: Bonus Feat
