RPG Crowdfunding News - 13th Age, The Sassoon Files, At The Gates, and more

Really hoping that the Sassoon Files gets more attention/ interest in the last 1.5 days. Their work is fascinating & great to have a POV from other parts of the world outside of the UK & US

Vote For The Most Anticipated RPG of 2024!

I'm really looking forward to The Laundry Files reboot. Somehow I missed the original. Love the idea of a more shambolic & dysfunctional police unit than the Delta Green alternatives. Have heard loads of good things about the 1st Ed. Pendragon 6e is looking great. Have the Starter Set & really...

Vote For The Most Anticipated RPG of 2024!

Oscar Rios' Golden Goblin Press has an excellent version of 7e CoC rules for ancient Rome - in Cthulhu Invictus. Highly recommended & supported. 👍🏼

D&D 5E Rime of the Frostmaiden Post-Mortem (Spoilers)

Scott..... Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion. And lots of us are having fun despite these problems! As said there is lots of great material in there & with hard work, an experienced GM can make it work. Sadly there has been the implication at times that if folks can't / find it...

D&D 5E Rime of the Frostmaiden Post-Mortem (Spoilers)

100% agree. It simply seems some folks are blind to terrible editing/ flaws in Rime & other 5e campaigns or simply think that terrible is normal or see running such things as a badge of honour.... Whereas to gripe & share concerns/ solutions to collectively identified problems is a sign of...

D&D 5E Rime of the Frostmaiden Post-Mortem (Spoilers)

Human sacrifice is a Big Bad kinda thing!!

D&D 5E Rime of the Frostmaiden Post-Mortem (Spoilers)

The pcs rock up as outsiders to the 10 Towns. One of the first things they can experience is a human sacrifice. I wish I had handled it better - retrospectively I wish I had the Cult of Auril running it. The event nearly put the pcs off helping the 10 Towns.... fortunately I got them back on...

D&D 5E Rime of the Frostmaiden Post-Mortem (Spoilers)

Later we get on p22 "Although each town has resolved to appease the Frost maiden with sacrifices of one kind or another, no respite from winter's fury seems forthcoming."

D&D 5E Rime of the Frostmaiden Post-Mortem (Spoilers)

No - it suggests they are not working since Auril is not appeased. The problem is this is badly developed..... as mentioned above, some GMs have posted how they have introduced a cult of Auril who are leading the sacrifices, led by frost druids. At low level, pcs will have to be careful of them...

D&D 5E Rime of the Frostmaiden Post-Mortem (Spoilers)

There is no guidance on this matter. The book states: SACRIFICES TO AURIL The desperate people of Ten-Towns, hoping to appease Auril so that summer can return to Icewind Dale, make sacrifices to the Frostmaiden on nights of the new moon. This is a new practice that started a little over a...

D&D 5E Rime of the Frostmaiden Post-Mortem (Spoilers)

Sigh. I can assure you there is nothing in the book that says any form of sacrifice is working. It is really badly handled in the book. Not sure what Paul is smoking TBH

D&D General Why did you pick your campaign setting?

Yeah. There is a ****-ton of settings out there. For 5e, I have used/ will soon be using: Eberron, Midgard & it's Southlands (Kobold Press), Ptolus (MCG), Ravenloft, FR, Avernus, Underdark, Middle Earth (AiME) & Ruins of Symbaroum 5e. Plus I am using Golarion soon for PF2E. I will choose the...

D&D 5E Rime of the Frostmaiden Post-Mortem (Spoilers)

Very much enjoying it. As is the group. Entering the end game: the discovery of Ythryn & the race against rival npc exploration teams to loot the city of its secrets.
