    D&D 5E ForgedAnvil D&D 5E Character Generator

I guess knowing Excel better than many (and having been a professional coder) can be helpful ;-) No thank you for the great work!

    D&D 5E ForgedAnvil D&D 5E Character Generator

Thanks so much for making this tool! One of my players started punching his L10 PC into it. It's very nice to be able to include a lot of our homebrew with minimal effort - very nice! Unfortunately on "Character Sheet 1" it's applying proficiency to all saving throws - twice to those with...

D&D 5E Has anyone fought and killed a Tarrasque?

Yes. That abomination (the anti_Tarrasque stratgey). Yeah I quite liked that aura too :-) Oh agreed. It was a high level MM1 critter for a start ;-) Ultimately I felt that "MV-ing it" and intelligent play was all it really needed. Mostly the latter, but the former never hurts.

    D&D 5E Invisible murderhobos

There are plenty of magical options, I see some mentioned below. I'd add that you Big Bad might have gotten hold of an artifact that allows him to cast Guards and Wards once a day...

D&D 5E Has anyone fought and killed a Tarrasque?

Right, yeah. Been a while since I 4e'd :-) I actually wasn't really a fan of adding to the Tarraqsue, though I did write up a possible addition. My preference was simply to play it to its' strengths and stick with my "creatures have an instinctive knowledge of how their abilities work" approach...

D&D 5E Only one monster generation method?

Yeah I definitely hated the 3.x way. That said I believe you could do it that way in 5e and maybe they should for those who want to do it that way. I personally liked the methods in all the editions before and after 3.x. I just could never handle the "three eccs" approach. I'm not say ing it's...

D&D 5E Has anyone fought and killed a Tarrasque?

You mean "Earthbinding aura". It's on page 13. That only deals with critters within (or above) 40 feet.

D&D 5E Has anyone fought and killed a Tarrasque?

In practice they do work in 4e. If you, the DM, play the monster like a damned idiot. I prefer to play monsters to their strengths - I assume they have some kind of instictive awareness of their abilities and how they work. In the end that's all it takes to deal with the cheese. Yeah I know...

D&D 5E Has anyone fought and killed a Tarrasque?

Using cheese. Use cantrips and range so it can't catch you. There are a few ways to do it - hover above and acid splash, get a fast horse and buffed magic missile, etc. Check out https://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dkb1/dnd/tarrasque.txt for fun too.

D&D 5E Only one monster generation method?

Exactly what I was saying. I guess the majority of us feel there's plenty of support within the flexibility of the current system. Most of us simply don't want the micro-management of some of the systems. Where every little thing we do there's someone coming out of the woodwork telling us that...

D&D 5E Only one monster generation method?

I would say the abilities for the level of cleric and the abilities of a succubus. We generally simplify down the abilities and spell lists tho as they otherwise get overly complex to run. Traditionally they don't - by the MM method "class" has no relevance to HP. It is size based. You can...

D&D 5E Only one monster generation method?

You could use the method in my blog. Some of it needs a little updating post-DMG but it actually still works perfectly well as-is.

    D&D 5E Beyond 20th Level: Proficiency Bonuses

If you want to keep the main game's mathematical progression for proficiency use it's linear formula for proficiency progression. Proficiency = round(0.25 x Level + 1.25)

D&D 5E What is dead may... not be dead

There are plenty of "easy" ways to come back from the dead. How about these spells... Clone Raise Dead Wish A creative DM can use any of these (or scrolls, rings, whatever with those effects) to achieve what you want and have a lot of fun doing so!

    D&D 5E Astral Dreadnought

My thoughts... Maximum attribute is higher than normal for a CR15 (normally 23), yet Average attribute is on the low side (normally 18). This may result in a creature with cirtical weak spots. Yes, I am looking at you Dexterity! AC is very high for a CR15, which really bumps its DCR. HD is...

D&D 5E How Would You Run a Game with 5 Mins Prep Time

I did this a week ago today. Here's how I ran it... Tell players to roll up PCs or find pregens. Pull up a few spreadsheets on my laptop (mainly my encounter building one) and punch in the PC levels. Grab an adventure I'm familiar with (but haven't run) off the shelf and skim the intro. Read...

DMs Guild Can You Fund A DMs Guild Product On Kickstarter?

My enquiries at DTRPG got put through to Chris Tang at OBS. CT is a really helpful guy and even gave permission to quote his responses here. I was going to post excerpts, but honestly two of his replies, in particular, really do deserve to be quoted in full. So with minimal modification, here...

    My First DMsG

In the latter case you can simply fuzzy select+delete the parts you want transparent. Or use layer masks for doing the same non-destructively.
