    D&D 5E The Magical Martial

The problem with lowering the DCs is they become too easy IMO. Now, I get your point, the +11 (normal maximum) sucks for DC 30, but again this is a flaw in WotC's design to me. Expertise, for example, should be available to all classes (at a cost of two skills for expertise in one, but Rogues...

    D&D 5E The Magical Martial

I'm not a big superhero/comic fan, but trying to find some info on how strong Cap is supposed to be ranged quite a bit, everything from lift 800 to lift a couple tons. We know the current rules are not good to model what humans can do in real life without adding some special feature, etc. But...

    D&D 5E The Magical Martial

In this case it is you compared to me! I am fine with maximum Strength being at Cap's strength or a bit higher, but Hulk strength is way out of bounds for a PC IMO. If we added an Epic level structure 21-30, then maybe around level 28+ Hulk strength works for me.

    D&D 5E The Magical Martial

Correct, it is not available normally unless you have a class feature (like Bear Totem) which grants it. There are a lot of things WotC could have (and should have...) done IMO to make things work, at least matching real life, or certainly larger. I think Cap strong in Tier 3 is a good place...

    D&D 5E The Magical Martial

Just like no human in the D&D game could match world-class sprinters in speed... The "Speed" of such a PC would have to be nearly 70 feet. Sure, you could build a high level PC human with that speed, but only via the Mobile feat... Actually, the world record is close to 1200 pounds, and...

    D&D 5E The Magical Martial

Wasn't that in Batman vs. Superman? What "supernatural abilities"? I mean what you consider to be Fighters and Rogues in your D&D fantasy game. If you feel they have already (or should have) such abilities, then they do. If you feel the don't, then they don't. Which was why I excluded magic...

I've said my piece, consider it done. :P

D&D General The 13th Age 2nd Edition Kickstarter Has Launched

This is what things like focus groups are for: to gauge interest before committing. You do you. I still think established companies using KickStarter to get "more money" is sad.

    D&D 5E The Magical Martial

I'm throwing this out to get different POVs: Which of the following creatures do you feel a 20th-level Fighter or Rogue should be able to defeat solo without the aid of magical items? TO BE CLEAR: I am not asking what you think they could defeat using current RAW classes, but what YOU FEEL...

D&D General The 13th Age 2nd Edition Kickstarter Has Launched

If you are already a company who has published books and is presumably showing a profit? Sounds pathetic and money-grabbing to me... For any and all of those who, again, are already establish, showing profits, etc. yes, it is. Using KickStarter to ask for funding when you are, oh, I don't...

D&D 5E Adapting the Warlock Chassis for other Classes

So, from your OP, I am reading it along these lines (please correct me if I am misunderstanding): Fighter in the Warlock chassis Archetype ("Patron") would currently follow the subclasses, such as Champion, EK, or Samurai, etc. Aspect ("Pact") might be your focus and work with Fighting Styles...

D&D 5E Adapting the Warlock Chassis for other Classes

Happy to contribute, but first I have to ask: Why do you feel the warlock chassis is the best overall class structure?

D&D General The 13th Age 2nd Edition Kickstarter Has Launched

So, the game has been around for 10 years, and they want KickStarter support to develop and launch a 2nd Edition? I thought the point of KictStarter was to, well, kick start a company or business, not be a money grab for an estabilshed one. That is pathetic IMO.

Fair enough and I agree because --- it isn't, is it?

D&D General Ready for playtest: a "5E-lite" retroclone

I don't know if I would go that far, I can tell you've put a lot of work into it! However, as for "marketing" it I think you need to find something that sets your game apart from the others. For example, in our game, which is 5E-based, we're adding proficiency bonus to damage. Why? Because it...

    D&D 5E The Magical Martial

For myself, anyway, it is more: "You can learn to fly because you're human" vs. "You gain the supernatural ability to fly because of (insert feature here)" Now, of course there are various levels of supernatural abilities, and this one (flying) is ore obviously "supernatural" compared to...

D&D General Ready for playtest: a "5E-lite" retroclone

Here's the thing: this is a D&D community. You posted here because others told you your game was "5E-lite", and myself and others are explaining it really isn't. I don't know who told you it was... I don't think you can try to take the "best from here and there", toss it together, and try to...

D&D General Ready for playtest: a "5E-lite" retroclone

You certainly haven't messed up, but you do seem to be taking aspects from different designs and trying to piece them all together. Because there are various elements from various designs, I think people get more confused at just what you are trying to do.

    D&D 5E The Magical Martial

Sure it does since we aren't talking only about human characters. Joe Farmer in the fantasy world is not supernatural. He's just human, like I am here. Joe has no supernatural abilities--he is not a PC or DMPC/NPC or a creature with a stat block (other than commoner) which can do supernatural...

    D&D 5E The Magical Martial

That's fair. We just have different views. Let me put it this way: if I took a human out of the D&D world and brought them to Earth in real life, they would simply be human. None of the supernatural things they could do in their D&D world would be possible here. Their training and special...
