D&D 5E Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

Veteran players don’t need class at all to implement a strong character concept. But 5ed aim for new comer into the game.

D&D General "Player Skill" versus DM Ingenuity as a playstyle.

No thank. games of « guess what what I’m thinking about » with the DM is not for me. I run a character, DM run NPCs and monsters. The competition and interaction are between those, not directly between me and the DM about nasty mind game.

Do highly unique characters still get a bad rep; and: how to give them room to exist?

In my sense a PC is a unique character by essence. Even if he is build as the most classic of his kind, the story, the « being at the good place at the right moment », will bring him into the exception anyway.

D&D General So, how much did/do you use psionics?

In 1ed I remember that two friends roll high to have psionic abilities. They were the only two.

    Spoilers 3 Body Problem

I agree to « You are bugs « , especially when you related it with the earlier conversation about the meaning of the red riding hood.

D&D General What Edition was it?

Funny but amazingly interesting about the story of dnd.

D&D General What Edition was it?

The talk about the failure of prestige class goal as a help for world building is pretty hilarious. Around 25:00

    Spoilers 3 Body Problem

I agree but what a scene! Rarely I have see the power of an overwhelming tech ( or magic) so well shown in a tv show.

D&D General When to know a rule?

I see no problem making endless variation on actual spells. Goblin glue can only be a Nth variant of Web or Entangle, more or less powerful. Just make sure that new spell mechanics and effects are easily understood by those affected by it. Adding new conditions, or bizarre effects can be funny...

    D&D 5E Encounter Balance holds back 5E

Thus if the DM is not expecting ressources, exact level or number of PC present at the gaming session, the actual CR xp budget system make the job by offering a vague expectation about the difficulty of an encounter. If the DM want more precision it always step into DM fiat land: Altering...

D&D 5E "I am not magical, but I use magic." - The Mundane Mystics

Is there really wizards loosing their spell book in actual DnD? I see that like a boogeyman from the past.

    D&D 5E Encounter Balance holds back 5E

In a fairy tale world, Dm setup a suite of encounter that will offer tactical choice to the players to spend their ressources wisely, and to the end all the choice made by the players will be resolve in a final fight the PCs win by a small margin or having a player think outside the box to save...

D&D 5E "I am not magical, but I use magic." - The Mundane Mystics

On such question like « who came first the magic or the magic user », I think that each DM can make his own mind on the subject. Magical or use magic, is pure fluff that won’t alter the game mechanics most of the time.

The Answer is not (always) on your Character Sheet

« the answer is not on the players sheet « mean to me that the DM is convinced to have given more than enough clues to solve the problems while the players are still totally confused about the solution. It also remind me DM that ask « You got to think outside the box! » that was a nice...

    Spoilers Rebel Moon-my spoiler review

Just saw the first part. A lot of good idea, some good scenery, an interesting vilain, But too much highlight and emphasis, and too much serious. I want a cake, not an orgy of sugar and chocolate!

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

My favorite view of the Sorcerer-Wizard dilemma is certainly Jonathan Strange et Mr Norrell. One is the scholar and the other is the gifted. Even MCU show it well opposing Agatha Harkeness and Wanda in WandaVision. One scholar, with high knowledge, and the other a gifted free spirit. The main...
