Why is it flavorless? It's flavor is that you are better spellcaster, or natural born spellcaster, just as you are with Shadow touched and Feytouched. Sharpshooters flavor is that you are better archer than without it. Same as skilled, you are more skilled.

I agree with you, but the answer was towards making less feats to print, this does that, it takes two very similar feats and combines then into one generic feat.

isn't skill expert better for that? you get your +1 ASI and expertise for price of 2 skills less?

-5/+10 were a problem at level 1, level 4 and level 8, maybe not later when HPs of monsters got really high together with AC at low levels when most damage can be 1d4+2 or 1d6+2, difference between 2 or 3 damage reduction can be noticed.

you can always take +2 ASI or +1/+1 ASI for the "feat slot" as for damage on a miss, it would be better if it was half damage if you miss AC by 5 or less, so high AC/low roll still comes into effect, and OFC you cannot trigger and on hit riders; sneak attack, smite, poison, hex, what not...

why? what feat is so game breaking at 1st level? only one that could possibly be is Heavy armor master and that was reworked from 3 to prof bonus in damage reduction.

only way to future proof the spell lists is to have all spell available to all casters. and you proceed with design from that point.

I also as a crunch fan thinks that 75 would be more than enough, if-and only if, they are balanced with eachother and with level they can be acquired. half the printed feat I have never seen taken once and 25% are only taken here and there, with 25% being mandatory for various builds.

true, maybe barbarian should have been: RAGE! I smash, you die! simple warrior. Then in reverse 90% of "class features" can become feats that anyone can take. classes are just a guideline how to pick a bunch of feats and not gimp the character(most of the time as we do have the monk class)
