    4e missed a trick here. They should have keyed powers by power source and then each class have its own features that interact with them in interesting ways etc. A lot of the powers were very similar with small riders to differentiate or scale them.

    ha, people would hate it but 1/2 level instead of proficiency bonus. Its much more manageable in the 1-20 level range ( and most games don't go above level 10 I'd wager).

    I've not paid much attention to 5e since the playtests. I noped out once they ditched XP budgets and 4e monster design. DM convenience was a deal breaker for me. I've played in a game run by my ten year old nephew though.

    There's definately a much sweeter spot that we got. Maybe instead of 1/2 level everything is 1/4 or 1-20 is the level max or maybe they are built using something like 4e companion rules (like SW saga damage scaling).

    Bloodied is great in 4e as its a number you can easily reference. It's easy to remember and can impact both mechanics and the narrative in interesting ways. WotC were fools to get rid of it.

    I'm an elf, but my grandfather was an orc and somewhere I had a Dragonborn ancestor: I can pick one elf, orc and dragonborn trait. I don't think its mechanically hard to do if its structured right.
