"You're doing a grand job with Hanz and Franz, Davaros! Has anyone got any idea what to do about those other things?"

Will see what they start to do. 5e doesn't have an Aim action but hopefully if I spend a round aiming then I'll get some form of bonus if I use Eldritch Blast next round.

"I can't see them," Willow replies, worried by the mention of other "things."

OOC: I really want to cast Light on a stone and chuck it at the roof, but I'm worried that might draw their attention and kick off initiative. Still hoping one more good roll from Davaros can win over the trolls before we wind up in a fight.

Unnerved by the thought of enemies she can't see, Willow picks up a stone and utters a quiet word. Bright light spills from the rock, and she hurls it at the roof. Her eyes widen at what the light falls upon, but she stays her hand, waiting to see what the creatures will do.

The light stops up at the edge of the rafters and the marionettes seem to look towards it for a second before rattling and raising their weapons.

OOC: I probably didn't explicitly explain how I do initiative in most of my games, but I typically just do party/opposition to simplify turns for myself.


Everyone also hears slightly shrill screaming coming from inside the tavern where you exited.

OOC: Green marionettes are archers. The rest use melee weapons.


The archer marionettes fire once each. One single bolt does find its mark in Willow for 6 points of damage. The blue and purple marionettes dash.

The red marionette hangs back.

The trolls shrug to each other and walk towards the puppets. One troll lands one hit on AF17 for 12 points of damage.

Parties turn.

Wasn't positive on Bell/Whistler's movement. Let me know. You could be on the top of the stables easily enough, or if you look at the map the stables have a lot of windows with pre-mounted crossbows there.

Willow grits her teeth as the bolt sinks in, but she steels her resolve and steps forward to meet the advancing creatures. She whispers a prayer as she moves, and flitting fey spirits begin to materialize around her.

OOC: Move: AA18
Action: Casting Spirit Guardians. Designating fellow PCs and the trolls as "safe." All other creatures within 15 ft radius need to make a DC 15 wis save on entering or starting their turn within the radius. 3d8 radiant damage on fail, half on success. Their speed is also halved within the spell's reach.

Multiple images shifted and distorted as Gul took aim at the marionette in red. Focusing his attention, he wove a pattern of force with his right hand, which coalesced into two separate distillations that flashed instantly towards their target.

Expecting retaliation, he took cover behind the tree.

OOC:
Note: Gul will cast Shield with a warlock slot as a reaction if he is hit by an attack (+5 to AC). Is it possible to only trigger this if he is hit, not if an image is hit?

Action: Cast eldritch blast, both aimed at red marionette. Any bonus for aiming last round?

Willow steps forward and summons her spiritual guardians.

Gul blasts the red marionette twice, each impact seemingly rattling through the entire marionette party via strands connecting them to the red one.

Davaros and Bell/Whistler have actions.

OOC: second attack d6 reroll from Great wepon fighting style if the attack hits: replace 2 by [roll0]. [MENTION=552]Creamsteak[/MENTION], I now officially hate Great wepon fighting style in pbp, because I need to post multiple times for an action. Can I please switch this to the defense fighting style: while you are wearing armor, you gain a +1 bonus to AC. This is much more vanilla, but way easier to manage. Thanks
