Call for Submissions: Kids Colouring Book

Dextra

Social Justice Wizard
Thanks in advance to all the publishers, artists, cartographers, designers and their kids who have contributed (or have pledged to contribute) material to the project. Please note that the deadline for submissions is October 1st in order to give us plenty of time to write up stats for all of the creatures submitted, do layout, etc.

To everyone else- if you are an industry person, or if you have kids, or if you're an industry person with kids, we'd love for you to join in!

Submit a B&W drawing with a name for the creature and maybe even some abilities, or a description, and d20Crunchmasta Hellhound will do the rest.
Or write up a sample setting placed in Mondora, the land of children's dreams.
Or write up a brief adventure set in Mondora.
Or come up with your own setting, or your own adventure set wherever you like.
Or write up a quickie article about how you write adventures, develop worlds, write stories, or draw, aimed mostly at kids (or beginning writers and illustrators :) ).

The whole point of this exercise is to encourage kids to join in games with their parents, use their imaginations, flex their creative muscles, etc. Let there be no more gamer orphans!

Age restrictions= NONE

Doesn't matter what age, really. I think a variety would be best, so please, have your teen do something! We've got adults contributing stuff as well as parent-kid teams and just kids. I'm working on securing the art of a map-drawing toddler!

Have fun with it, and get the kids involved, that's what's important! And hey, if you'd like to write a few words yourself about the joys of gaming with kids, feel free to do so!

(I remember nursing at the gaming table... those poor dice chuckers were having a hard enough time dealing with a female gamer, let alone one who bared her breast!)

(pulled from Dreadgazebo.com re: The Colouring book)"...These two adorable little girls are almost certainly the youngest published d20 authors, and they signed my copy of the book" -Monte Cook, "The Ten Best Things About GenCon 2002..."

Monte forgot one very important fact (though maybe it wasn't "fact" when he was quoted), these girls are the youngest, published award winning D20 authors out there:)

They have writing credit on the "Giant Killer" Portable Hole Full of Beer, the only independent entry to defeat WotC in the ENnies:)

My Girlfriend's 10 year old daughter has committed to submiting something to the project.

update

The web site ( http://www.dreadgazebo.com/dnd/kids.html ) has been updated with the latest details on the Who's Who of participants, more specifics as to what we're looking for, a little more background on the project (including the original graphic that Scott M Fischer drew in the back of the girls' book), and some nifty links.

Phew!

Now if only I can convince the girls to finish their homework early tonight so they can write up some more creatures...

Kids on the Radio

The girls will be doing their first radio interview ever (they've already been on TV) with Adlon this evening. Should be interesting... sometimes getting kids to answer questions is like pulling teeth, other times it's hard to shut them up!
