Adding +5 AC to all attacks for a round is huge. Big difference between that and a mundane +2 AC shield. Even more so considering you’re giving up a hand and reducing damage to carry it.
I don’t have a problem with AC 22 characters. Currently up to level 18 in Age of Worms. Paladin is AC 21...
👍 Lucky for both of us then
Though AC22 isn’t just armoured it’s heavily armoured. Fully customized to maximize AC with class choices, weapon load out and magic items. So I stand by my point.
Says you.
It’s simple. In my games when shield is used on AC 20+ characters, a conversation is had. It doesn’t happen again.
Problem solved. It amazes me that more seemingly irreconcilable problems don’t get solved with an honest conversation. So instead DMs contort themselves into a pretzel...
Nothing is part of the game world if it’s agreed it isn’t.
Though I prefer a soft cap. Don’t abuse shield and I won’t ban it, or ask you to retire your character.
Silvery barbs is just too good. Luckily most people haven’t read Strixhaven.
This is definitely good advice. Don’t waste main-line attacks on the sorcadin. Tie up with minions.
Other options to consider:
Open up the battlefield - larger areas mean the sorcadin can’t hold choke-points and will struggle to maneuver around. Also reduces the likelihood of everyone being in...
Loving getting back into the game on Survival. Totally changes the way I play.
Also found a brilliant video for developing Hangman’s Alley that turns it from a cramped corridor to a vast palace. The rest of the series are pretty good too. Surprisingly easy to listen to and follow. For new...
Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4e’s encumbrance uses points and is very good. Easy to track and actually matters. Capacity as a function of Strength with items being worth 1, 2, or 3 points. Clothing and armour uses one point less if worn rather than carried because you’re spreading the load out...
I’m having a lot of fun running various D&D adjacent games in the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay system. Notably Skull and Shackles from Pathfinder 1 is much more fun in that grittier system. Currently converting Dragonheist and Keys from the Golden Vault for similar reasons.
I’ve also converted...
You know I actually knew that one already. It’s a great little adventure. Fun fact it was written by Professor Dungeon Master of Dungeoncraft fame.
Heavily inspired by the Name of the Rose. Only downside is I’ve ran it already. But it’s exactly The kind of thing I was looking for.
Are they set in the library or just accessed through the library. I thought the Candlekeep mysteries were all set off campus and the book was just the hook/gimmick?
I’m looking for an adventure set in a temple, monastary or library or substantially featuring a one of these?
It has to be a working temple/monastary/library, not ruined. Staffed by folks. Ideally of a good or neutral good.
Any edition of D&D or D&D adjacent.
Ideally a good adventure.
Any...
