I've had a much different experience DM'ing 3.5e. Maybe it's because I know the rules by heart and most of the quibbles with it can be addressed by plugging in Pathfinder changes. I dunno, but I like how it scales a lot better than 5e does, and I love the plethora of options for it.

Don't like it at all. There just isn't anything going on, it's boring. Compare this to the Pathfinder covers and this just falls flat on its butt.

Elmore has clearly stated the painting's character is, and always was, male. The Wizkids miniature was intended to be a woman. So both of those statements should be considered "official". The wording in the article should be clarified to denote that.

Yep. Slapping the old "5e Compatible" sticker on the cover doesn't have the pull it used to.

The older lore is always better. Anything 3.5e or earlier is a gold mine.

Yeah, they've used that font before for some previous splat books. It's a bit too cartoony IMO.

Wayne Reynolds art is a favorite of mine. But the text is kinda meh. Good thing this is just a temporary image and not final cover art.
