    D&D (2024) What Should D&D 2024 Have Been +

As someone who played MtG, most players are not a good judge of what makes for a good card for the game. D&D isn't exactly the same, generally it is far less competitive between players for example, but I've seen enough homebrew to believe that it is similar in terms of RPG design.

D&D General So, how much did/do you use psionics?

Never played 1e. I've played the 3e Psion one time, and I guess technically the Monk was psionic in 4e, which I played for a session or two in one of the few times our group tried to get into 4e. Ultimately, I am of the opinion that psionics, in virtually any edition I've played, has not added...

(IC) Against the Giants PBP Group 1

Valda stares for a moment at the prince, as if she has some choice words to say to him, but she holds her tongue for the moment. She looks over at the others to see if they want to start the proceedings. If no one steps forward, she will respond with a short "Go ahead and speak, your highness."...

(IC) Against the Giants PBP Group 1

Valda nodded and waited for the giant to leave. "Cloud Giants are supposed to be tricky ones." She advised.

Against the Giants 5e PBP (Full)

Like Blue, I feel bad because I've been somewhat inconsistent as well. I think/hope things are going to settle down for a bit coming up here, so I can keep up a bit easier, especially since we might be coming up on an ending at some point in the semi near future.

D&D General What Classes Would You Add to D&D?

Well, first I'll explain what I personally think a new class should have. It should have enough of an identity and popularity to justify a class rather than simply being a subclass, while also being broad enough to be able to host multiple subclasses within itself. Having a mechanical hook is a...

    D&D 5E Brainstorm Sorcerer upgrades. (+)

A while back I reworked the core book subclasses. One of things I gave them was additional bonus spells, like the Tasha ones. Here are the lists for a jumping off point for more, and probably better ideas. Draconic Spells 1st Level Draconic Bloodline Feature You learn additional spells when you...

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

A lot of this is veering into the tangential for the sorcerer I think. The big problem is defining what the sorcerer is supposed to be doing. 3e's sorcerer was to allow concepts that the wizard was ill equipped to portray, which honestly is a lot, with a fairly different casting system. 4e made...

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

For the whole Learned, Innate, Borrowed Power thing for martials, I'd say Barbarian is more innate power than fighter, and they both share borrowed power through subclasses like Totem/Wildheart, Rune Knight, etc.

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

I don't entirely disagree, and I even think having a Warlord class ala 4e, which I thought was awesome from my limited experience with that edition, would be pretty cool. What I don't want is 3e's Swashbuckler from Complete Warrior. Likewise, some stuff, like an archer class, doesn't feel like...

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

The problem with more classes is that they become increasingly more niche. And of course there are going to be people who like those niche classes, but are there enough people interested in playing them to make it worth making? That is the question WotC I'm guessing is asking themselves, and...

Worlds of Design: The Problem with Magimarts

The big issue I have with that is that the +3 Sword is the obviously correct choice in most campaigns, which generally leads to it really being just one choice.

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

I will fully admit that I'm one of the five people a bit nostalgic for Vancian casting, at least for the wizard. I think it's not coming back, because it's more time consuming and frustrating for most people, but I think it made for interesting decision points compared to the current version.

Worlds of Design: The Problem with Magimarts

I'm definitely not a fan of unlimited/restriction less magimarts. I've found that if player's can get their hands on anything, it just ends up buying predictable "best" items, which gets kinda old. However, it makes sense magic items would be a commodity, even if a rare one, so I'm not 100% no...

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

My group tried some homebrew HP casters back in 3e/3.5 and it never ended well. Either too much of a death spiral, or the cost was so minimal it was incredibly overpowered.
