D&D 5E Help me understand & find the fun in OC/neo-trad play...

I just don't care for the idea of presuming players are being disingenuous with their feelings about a game to their GM.

D&D General Druids and Path Dependency: Why the Scimitar Helps Illuminate D&D

Yeah, I got tired of the rules, and especially magic, mostly just caring about combat applications very quickly.

D&D General Which Edition Had The Best Dragons?

Yeah, as far as I'm concerned, the best dragon in D&D is Cyan Bloodbane.

I'm not sure how fair it is to make the assumption that someone's understanding of their player's reactions is probably false just because you don't happen to agree with it. No amount of saying that's not what you're doing here changes that IMO.

D&D (2024) Greyhawk Confirmed. Tell Me Why.

I know dislike of elves is pretty common in settings I make, although not by everyone of course. But then, my thought process on these issues is largely informed by Dragonlance (as described above) and a little by Spelljammer (with the blatantly speces-ist Elven Empire).

D&D (2024) Greyhawk Confirmed. Tell Me Why.

Tanis was mistrusted and looked down upon by almost everyone who didn't know him personally, and some (like his stepfather and cousin) who did. And the elves and dwarves both had to be talked into allowing human refugees to even enter their lands, let alone settle on them. The initial reaction...

One of the things I liked about Dragonlance was that elves, dwarves, and humans were very much distrustful of each other, often to the point of violence in some cases. So it's not always just the "monster races" that get this treatment.

D&D 5E Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

Ok, fair enough. My hypocrisy only goes so far, I guess.

Not exactly sure what makes it poor to you.

No, they want a citation that not giving orcs a strength bonus is very bad. Like that isn't obviously an opinion.

D&D General Are you aware that the New Edition (5.5 whatever) is a part of the 50th Anniversary of D&D?

Fair enough all. I personally don't care if WotC makes any extra money, and I certainly don't think they need to push hard on merchandising to survive like some have implied here, but it's not all about me.

D&D 5E Thoughts on Divorcing D&D From [EDIT: Medievalishness], Mechanically Speaking.

Again, I am aware of all this (although I think you are overstating Star Trek's reliance on fisticuffs). I was specifically refuting @Raiztt 's post.

And if that sort of thing, more or less, is all you want out of firearms, I again recommend Mage Gand Press's Valda's Spire of Secrets.

Are you acknowledging their refutation of all your other examples, or just looking for one that better fits your argument?

Do you get into a lot of fights? Combat in the modern genre requires that you take firearms into account. D&D is going to have combat, possibly a lot of it. Ergo, @Reynard 's idea requires that gun be accounted for.
