Mt. Autumnal sounds like a very good name for a volcano.

"The term 'GNS' is moronic and annoying" – well this should be an interesting interview

The social contract. Unless of course the players want a silly game, then it really doesn't ruin it and the social contract requires silliness.

I really dislike that definition, because it includes the PCs. If everything is a monster, then nothing is really a monster. It's pretty useless as a definition.

Yeah. I recently came to the conclusion that my next time out DMing will be episodic, rather than have a grand plot.

I didn't play 4e so I had to look that up. This is not the same issue. Are they both kinda sorta under the header of fun? Yep. The entire game is. Having someone roll to hit a door, though, isn't the same as encountering guards at the gate. I've known many, many DMs who have gate guards...

    The "G" in RPG

I'm going to step into this one on @payn's side of things. 1st vs. 3rd person just determines how you roleplay. In my opinion on a scale of 1 to 10, 3rd person ranks lower on the RP scale than 1st person, but it's still on the scale. 3rd person is so low that I haven't used it in decades...

    The "G" in RPG

For me too much game is when I'm being yanked out of RP immersion too often to roll dice, look things up or move pieces on a board for combat. I can't really quantify what "too often" means, but I know it when I feel it!

What gets me about the idea that noble recognizes noble is that rogues/conmen can impersonate nobles and often get away with it, so it can't be something inherent to the title. It also means that anyone with decent deception/persuasion would be able to use the noble background ability.

D&D 5E Who tried to end the OGL?

Who got it from Deep Throat. That guy breaks everything of importance.

D&D (2024) Do you plan to adopt D&D5.5One2024Redux?

Nope, but I do know where there are blacksmiths and where there aren't. Walk into a quasi-medieval town and you will find one. Walk into an island village where they don't use metal and you won't. What isn't going to happen is for every town not to have a blacksmith unless the PCs want to...

It doesn't work that way unless the world doesn't exist outside of wherever the PCs are at, with everything waiting in the back to be pulled out for the PCs as they need it. Some of us like a coherent world where things exist outside of the PCs. In such a world if it can and does work in...
