I'm not a fan of Tyler's art style, the messy unfinished edges, but it still looks good and says DnD. Trad 4 classes... And a dwarf. I do like his back page one on the back of the dragon, the guy with the axe looks terrified! There is also some great location art in the article, really varied...

What I find amusing, more than male/female, is his/her armour has grown longer ;) I also thought it was the same guy from 0 to hero, tho taking on a dragon when level 1-3 was pretty crazy!

Yes, just my guess. 7 isn't even fully distributed yet, 8 still being written (not sure as I didn't back that one), and somehow they've squeezed in another book whilst running 8? It just doesn't follow their normal publishing timelines of OAR. Maybe they worked on it in parallel with 7 with...

So who is the audience of critical role that play games? Most would have started on games that the show used, PF1 and 5e, I think - I don't watch. So it would be a disconnect for those players bright into the hobby on DnD to get rules that are very different, so I guess there would be push back
