I'm not sure why you think this is the case. Perhaps you haven't read the OP? At level 1 (i.e. what you refer to with "creating a new character", "assistance to go through character creation", "session 0 slog"), there are 10 options we've seen in the playtest materials, 5 possible inclusions...

All of these are old problems, right? We've seen what they intend to do with feats in playtest, and had the opportunity to give feedback. None of this is new with the information that we now have a hard number. We can agree that some people won't like the implementation, or think it's not...

The inclusion of Aasimar leaves me hoping that there will be some non-innately spellcasting species from MotM included as well.

Tommi hears the swarm of rats, but his vision is obscured by his allies. No one is moving, and he doesn't want to hit anyone with a stone. But Gutter is thirsty. He pushes himself towards the shrieking rats, oblivious to all danger, and stabs the swarm, before backing away. Move 25' to Q41...

So many fun ideas here. I can think of specific characters for whom each of the following would have been great payoffs.

"How to make a Warlord in 18e." "How to fix the 18e Monk." "Flanking in 18e: how 15e did it better."

Seeing her arrow hit the hag, and sink into her as if it were a pin in a pincushion makes Miss Imogen's heart sink. Why had they undertaken this fight? She was ill-equipped, low on arrows, and unable to help. Or was she? Miss Imogen shivered, and knew how little moisture there was down here...

The nice thing about this approach is that the class feats/invocations need not be class-specific. Like, sure, they could be, but they don't need to be, and if someone wants to get a lockpicking knack or a raise dead knack even if they aren't a burglar or necromancer, that's cool. Invocations...

Might it be productive to see these as two independent dials, rather than just narrowing a single dial? For me: Pact determines they way you are approaching a problem. Specifically, in combat, but it need not be that. Your pact choice will govern the sorts of things you want to be able to do...

The fact that Serkis hasn't been nominated for an Oscar yet is a big oversight. Had War for the POTA been better, he might have gotten a nod for it. Maybe this is his chance?
