I also hope that WoTC does this. However, I don't think they'll be bringing back the Ardling. Not when they can give us the option of role-playing a Guardinal-descended Aasimar instead. ;)
This reminds me of Pathfinder 1st Edition's Blood of Angels and Blood of Fiends. :) Both books did a very nice job of fleshing out both Planetouched Races.
It's a good bet that the Dragonborn in D&D 2024 are also going to get a make over with regards to their looks. Bronze Dragonborn, for instance, are going to sport fins and the same koi-like scale pattern. :p
Brass, Bronze and who else? I remember from 4e on how there was some concern and confusion regarding Brass and Bronze dragons and how they looked. Some felt that the two looked alike while ignoring some of the more obvious differences in their appearance.
Animal-headed Mulhorandi Aasimar and Tieflings were usually the result of having a Mulhorandi deity as one of your ancestors. Some of the more elemental Mulhorandi deities such as Geb had Genasi descendants.

I hope so too. I would like to see Aasimar who are the descendants of Archons (LG), Guardinals (NG), and whatever they've got planned for CG Celestials.
I also wish they could squeeze in the Genasi too. ;)
