The VOIDRUNNER'S CODEX is coming! Explore new worlds, fight oppressive empires, fend off fearsome aliens, and wield deadly psionics with this comprehensive boxed set expansion for 5E and A5E!
IIRC, someone on the D&D said about five years ago that half of all DMs homebrew their campaigns. I have no idea if that number would hold up today. But I believe WOTC periodically asks about published campaigns vs. homebrew when it puts out surveys, so they likely have a very rough estimate.
PC is carrying a magic item, but literally never encounters a situation where the item would be useful? That absolutely checks out.
I’m remembering a campaign where I got a Rod of Lordly Might at like Level 5… then never had a use for it.
You know what? Even though I actually prefer the Wizard, I’m voting Druid.
Partly because I’m impressed our plucky little tree-hugger has defied the odds so far, and partly because I just want to see what happens.
(Not surprisingly, this is also my approach to playing D&D…)
Prediction: The 2024 DMG will have an entire chapter requiring DMs to give every NPC a funny accent.
Also, tips on how to stretch a single shopping expedition into a full 3-4 game session.
About two years ago, I was playing with a DM who loves gonzo, overpowered stuff. In this particular campaign, he would routinely hand out tens of thousands of GP for completed quests… AND he had most magic items readily available for purchase by the PCs.
My first purchase was a Hat of Disguise...
Close call… but I ended up voting no.
I’d probably want more than 9 race/subrace options. This list covers the classics, but feels a little vanilla.
More subclass choices would be fun, but 12 is pretty good. Put it this way: The SRD creates 108 different possible race/class combinations—more...
I made several trips to my local Ollie’s last month, hoping to snag the campaign cases, but I came up empty-handed. Then earlier today, there were a bunch set out in an end-cap display. I now have one of each case (plus the Warriors of Krynn which I picked up last month).
Now I just have to...
Nice list.
I’m impressed that you’re meticulous enough to track your D&D-related expenses down to this level of granularity.
Two questions, though:
1. Where did you get 25 sets of dice for $23? (Not that I need more dice, but… you know…)
2. What did you need 100 d6s for? Did you build a...
One of my groups is looking to start up a new 5E campaign in the new year, and I’m brainstorming ideas for my character.
I’ve recently played a couple of Clerics and an Artificer, but I’m thinking that this time around it might be fun to mix it up and play the big guy standing up front and...
Second-best solution, then…
Print the monster stats on double-sided, three-hole-punched paper.
Sell a gussied-up, overpriced binder to keep them all organized.
Profit.
